On May 15th and 16th, 2023, the results of the scientific research carried within the project “Elaboration and implementation of methodology for authenticity and geographical origin assessment of agricultural products” (Public Investment Programme/General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, under the call “YPOERGO 3, code 2018SE01300000), were presented at the International Scientific Conference “ICFFTI XVII. International Conference on Food Traceability and Food Industry, London, United Kingdom” by Postdoctoral Researcher Eleni Mazarakioti. The first presentation focused on the differentiation of the geographical origin of giant beans named “Gigantes Elefantes” (from Kastoria and Prespes) from imported giant beans (Poland and China), using multi-elemental analysis through Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (Oral Presentation). The second presentation referred to the geographical origin discrimination of Greek rice compared to rice samples originating from Asian countries such as Korea, China, and the Philippines based on stable isotope ratios (C, N, and S) methodology. The presentation of the results for the differentiation of geographical origin of “Gigantes Elefantes” beans received the award for the best oral presentation.
